- Played some in Toronto with Duke Edmundson and Johnny Wilson. They were
- known as the "Puke Line" because they weren't blessed with a whole lot of
- talent.
- Gerry was the only player in history to play in the Grey Cup and Stanley Cup
- Champiohship in one year.
- Played for 4 years with the Toronto Marlboros
- Won the Memorial Cup with the Toronto Marlboros - 1956
- Gerry was the First recipient of the Schenley all Canadian award 1954 - and 
- won it again in 1957
- CFL record for post season games - 36
- Won 4 Grey Cups - 1958 - 1959 - 1961 - 1962 with Winnipeg Blue Bombers
- Signed with the Bombers at age 17 - Joined them in 1952
- Inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1981
- Sask. Hall of Fame - 1994
- Played his final season with the Sask. Roughriders - 1964
- Other teams coached in the SJHL - Yorkton - 1972-74 - Estevan - 1984 - 87
